Lamenting the Death of Liu Daoyi
半壁东南三楚雄，
The mightier half of the South-East, massive Yangtze shores!
刘郎死去霸图空。
At Daoyi's decease, aborteth abrupt our noble cause.
尚余遗业艰难甚，
What onerous enormous tasks with us thou leavest behind?
谁与斯人慷慨同？
And where again will we hear that stirring calling of thine?
塞上秋风悲战马，
On frontiers, battle stallions neighing in autumn breeze,
神州落日泣哀鸿。
O'er famished inland, wild geese cry at sunset bleak.
几时痛饮黄龙酒，
A victory party being given at Tartars' den one day,
横揽江流一奠公！
Let all of the river's waters be poured a libation to thee!
