It gives me great pleasure to attend the openingceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Conference ofthe Istanbul Process on Afghanistan together withPresident Ashraf Ghani. Let me extend, on behalf ofthe Chinese government and people and in my ownname, welcome to President Ashraf Ghani,distinguished foreign ministers, guests and friends and warm congratulations on the openingof the conference.

很高兴与加尼总统共同出席阿富汗问题伊斯坦布尔进程第四次外长会开幕式。我谨代表中国政府和人民，并以我个人名义，对加尼总统、各位外长、嘉宾和朋友们的到来表示欢迎！对此次会议顺利召开表示热烈祝贺！

The fourth Ministerial Conference is the first important international conference on Afghanistan since the elections in Afghanistan. We hope that this conference will send a clear signal ofstrong support of countries in the region and the international community to a smoothtransition, security and development in Afghanistan, reiterate their long-standingcommitment to peace and reconstruction there, and demonstrate their full confidence in the future of the country.

伊斯坦布尔进程第四次外长会，是阿富汗大选之后举行的首个重要涉阿国际会议。我们希望通过此次会议，发出地区国家和国际社会坚定支持阿富汗平稳过渡和安全发展的明确信号，重申对阿富汗和平重建的长期承诺，展现对阿富汗未来的坚定信心。

Afghanistan holds an important geographical position as it connects South Asia, Central Asiaand West Asia, bordering China to the east. A shining pearl on the ancient Silk Road,Afghanistan was once where civilizations met and numerous kingdoms left their marks inhistory. More than 2,100 years ago, Zhang Qian, an envoy of China's Western Han Dynasty,recorded an Afghanistan bustling with travelling merchants and trade caravans. The Gandharanart, once flourishing in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is known across the world and had greatinfluence on the murals and sculptures in ancient China.

阿富汗位于南亚、中亚、西亚结合部，东邻中国，地理位置十分重要。这里曾经是古代丝绸之路上一颗璀璨的明珠，众多文明在此激荡交融，多个王朝在此打下历史的印记。两千一百多年前，中国西汉使节张骞记载了这块土地上商旅贸易的繁荣景象。曾经兴盛于阿富汗和巴基斯坦的犍陀罗艺术享誉世界，对中国古代壁画、雕塑风格产生了重要影响。
